My Better Fashionable Half

Hello there! I wish I could take all the credit for styling this outfit but unfortunately that will be a lie. Chris (my sweetie pie) thinks he is a fashion expert just because he is married to someone interested in fashion. I have to admit, though, that he is responsible for bringing this outfit to life. You can't imagine how impressed I was when he said that it needs a "pop of color". So I obliged and started digging in my closet for something colorful that will match the pearl gray and white of the silk top/skirt. Although pics don't show it well enough, the purple tank top helps a lot. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

xoxo,

Teodora

Peg Leg Pete's Oyster Bar

Hello My Dear Fashionistas,

I am so sorry for my absence but I had to take a much needed short vacation to Pensacola Beach, FL to rejuvenate and  re-energize. Do you feel ambitious and energized after vacation or depressed and gloomy that you have to get back to work or school? I have to say, I experience both at the same time.

That was the first time we went on a vacation with friends and I have to say we had an amazing time, which included a lot of beach bumming and eating fresh and sumptuous seafood!

There pictures are from one of those restaurants (Peg Leg Pete's Oyster Bar) that serves the most fresh and tasty oysters, crab legs, shrimp, lobster, on and on. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the food as I was too busy devouring anything in front of me. The restaurant is next to a boat yard and a great setting for some sunset pictures!

Journey

"Success is a journey, not a destination - half the fun is getting there." - Gita Bellin

I often wonder about the destination of my blog. Why am I doing it, where I am going with it? All I know right now is that I enjoy doing it and that is all I need to get motivation. Have you ever done something that had no direction but ended up becoming one of the most purposeful things in your life?

Wrap It Up

I am so thankful to Diane von Fürstenberg for bringing the wrap dress to light back in the day. I prefer it when the skirt is more fitted, just like on the pics of my friend Nadia. I hope you like them!
I am looking forward to the weekend, as I have planned some shopping and laying out by the pool (not my own pool, mind you).

xoxo, Teodora

Girls Night Out

Hello ladies,

Couple of weeks ago we went to Aja, a modern Asian Cuisine restaurant downtown Atlanta. This two-story hip place has everything I look for in a restaurant - amazing food, great ambiance and electrifying music. And of course the company was so much fun - something you can't buy. The restaurant has a 10 ft brass Buddha that arrived straight from Thailand and was a great backdrop for our pictures.

Purple Rain, Purple Rain

We all know that bold colors are on the horizon for Spring 2011. Although some designers feature the trend from head to toe, I prefer it when its boldness it softened by neutral and pastel colors. I decided to start the trend a little earlier with a sweater from MissSixty.

Teodora's Lookbook: Accessorizing the Snow

Happy Sunday!

The weather has been unusually dreary in Atlanta for the last week or so. However, I decided it should not prevent me from having fun and taking advantage of nature's beauty. I realized snow makes one of the best backdrops for photographs.

Teodora's Lookbook: Riding the Trend

This post is a follow up on my previous post re: equestrian style. This is how I interpret this timeless trend providing the budget. I apologize for the inside pictures. We have had a "snowpocalypse" in Atlanta and we just don't know how to deal with it.

I have also added a photo from my only experience riding a horse. It was with an older Clydesdale named Jake. He was a sweetheart but he was just too big for my own comfort.

Something Different

I am so excited about my friend's upcoming wedding. This past Saturday we had a great time looking at potential dressses for the bride and the bridesmaids. Nadia is from Bangladesh so I got a quick tutorial on sarees styles and fabrics. The most common fabrics for sarees are chiffon, silk, georgette, crepe and cotton. She is looking for a white or off-white design intricate with light embroidered borders and crystal beaded work. I wish I had more occasions to wear sarees.

Teodora's Lookbook: Salute to Military Chic

Bonjour,

Here is my realistic representation of the "Aviator Chic" collage I shared with you a couple of posts ago. The aviator jacket is still in the works but maybe I can save enough for next year. I know it shouldn't matter if I like it, but do you think it will still be in style next winter?

Most of the pieces in this outfit are from different brands but they were purchased from Fab'rik.

This is a great time to share one of my new additions - lace and satin pumps by Carlos. Many thanks to my very best friend and shoe advisor, Nadia.

Empress Theodora and Coco Chanel

Hello everyone,

First, here is a little history behind the Chanel Metiers D'Art Collection 2011 Paris-Byzance. Every year since 2002, Karl Lagerfeld shows support to Chanel's Métiers d’Art by dedicating an annual collection to them. Métiers d’Art include seven specialist craftsmen -  Lemarié the feather specialist, Lesage the embroiderer, Desrues the costume jeweler, Massaro the shoemaker, Maison Michel the milliner, Goossens the goldsmith and Guillet the floral accessory specialist. These collections typically celebrate a city that is a part of Chanel’s history. Back in the 1920's, Coco Chanel drew inspiration from Byzantine history to create her jewelry. In this collection, Karl Lagerfeld draws inspiration from Empress Theodora, a Byzantine empress, whose ambition is similar to that of Coco Chanel.

Karl Lagerfeld gives a contemporary spin to the opulence of Byzantine culture. The predominant materials are tweeds woven with gold thread, textured knits, and silk. All of the materials are heavily embroidered to resemble ancient mosaics. Accessories, from bangles and earrings, to headpieces and necklaces, are intricate with gold, glass beads, precious stones, and filigree gilt.  Lavish over the knee boots and sandals, smaller handbags, red eyeliner for make up, and updo hairstyles complete the looks.

I truly enjoy this collection not only because it is beautiful but also because it reminds me of my own culture and history.

Wish List: Aviator Chic

Military trend has been in the works for the last couple of years. I am finally putting together an outfit  to reflect my interpretation of it (coming next post). I have gathered most of the items from this wish list, excluding the aviator jacket. Due to its price ($400-$1,000), an authentic leather aviator jacket will probably remain on the wish list. Aviator jackets are a later development of the military style, and they look great with both a cargo/leather pant or a dress.

Events: Chic Boutique Tour

Who would have known that shopping soiree on wheels could be so much fun? The experience with Chic Boutique Tour, owned and operated by the lovely Rosalynn Wilson, is not your average shopping experience. In the span of five hours, we had the pleasure to visit five of the best Atlanta boutiques and stores, enjoy a variety of noshes and cocktails, socialize and network, watch a movie, take a break between shopping locations, and make new friends.

Here is why you should experience the Chic Boutique Tour for yourself:

- It addresses the needs of ladies of all shapes, tastes, sizes, level of addiction (spend a whole check vs a portion of it), fetish (shoes vs garments)

- You literally get pampered - you get to relax during a lavish executive bus ride around Atlanta, enjoy a movie and a great food and drink service by the gorgeous male staff of Chic Boutique Tour.

- You get to shop at a 20% discount in all of the participating boutiques

- A number of giveaways will keep you on your toes through the whole trip. Some of the fashionistas on our tour will indulge in a one-hour message from Message Envy, a free Shop Your Closet service from A Clothes Encounter, a free pedicure from Pampered Nail and Body Spa...

- We also had a professional stylist, the talented Kaira Akita with A Clothes Encounter, give us advice on the latest trends and styles.

- Shop at some of the best boutiques in Atlanta - the names speak of themselves - Off Broadway Shoes, Coposhi, Merino, Fab'rik, Plush BoutiqueWine Shoe.

The Tour ended with a wine tasting session at the Wine Shoe store. I had the pleasure to  visit this store a couple of months ago and was excited to go back and replenish my wine supply. This time, I chose  a red wine - Italo Cescon Pinot Nero Veneto.

I can't wait for the next tour and I hope it coincides with my mom's visit to the US.
